For Built Environment Tech Innovators

Imperial College London is offering deep-dive intensive innovation support to deep tech built environment innovators, delivered through two cohorts of 10 small business beneficiaries in each group. 

Support provided to each cohort will be for 12 months, based on the diagnostic of need and agreed support plan. The support will be bespoke and delivered through one-to-one mechanisms, including advisors and innovation vouchers. This support will include facilitated introductions to demonstration sites to enable the supported businesses to showcase their innovations in a real world environment to drive confidence amongst both customers and investors.

THE PROGRAMME:

  • Mission-led, founder-focussed
  • Cohort of SME start ups and scale ups selected. Min. 10 companies in the formal group of receiving support
  • Connectivity to potential users from the very beginning through our corporate members, and a number of key project developers in our network

EVENTS SERIES:

  • Facilitated workshop with cohort participants and other key actors to identify challenges
  • Follow up activity and programme identification and design for the cohort with additional individual support
  • Additional full group workshop
  • Final demo/delivery day of solutions to other parts of supply chain and some further promotion and marketing.
  • Pilot projects

SUPPORT INCLUDES

  • Bespoke mentoring options of innovation vouchers for direct work and collaboration with selected research academics, hackspace and maker space, internships, experts in residence, marketing support etc.
  • Access for two people to the Advanced Hackspace. Comprised of a mechanical fabrication workshop, CNC machining, 2D / 3D and electronic prototyping facilities, and a Bio Lab. Plus, access to expertise to upskill, online surgeries and one-to-one sessions to help with development of concepts and prototypes.
  • Policy engagement and support –including round tables and built environment horizon scanning sessions with industry stakeholders
  • Case study and support for reports/video
