WeatherVelo is developing ‘cyclev’ – a new and unique design of human-electric hybrid vehicle, engineered for cost-effective manufacture and practical use in traffic.
Safety, poor weather and journey distance are the three key reasons why car drivers choose not to ride bicycles (source: DfT National Travel Attitudes Survey). The ‘cyclev’ vehicle addresses these problems and therefore can replace single-occupancy cars and second cars with an ultra-light vehicle which uses significantly fewer resources (thus emissions) to manufacture and much less energy to propel (small battery requires less electricity to charge), as well as having a relatively compact footprint on the road.
